Late Arrivals and Late Pick-Ups:

A Friendly Reminder:

1. As we have mention in our tour, orientation and in our monthly calendar, routine and consistency is very important in a young child’s development. It helps a child feel secure and helps the child to know what is going to happen next.

When children do not have a routine, they feel very insecure and have a difficult time.

We have noticed that some of the children have not been coming in before 9:15 a.m. consistently for the past few months. This is the age when it is important that the children arrive early on a regular basis. The classroom teachers are teaching the children skills and concepts to prepare them for kindergarten. This is the time when the children are developing friendships and problem solving.

We realize that there will be times when the morning may be hectic or one of you may not have to go to work so early and you want to spend time with your child. We also appreciate that you may call us to let us know when your child will be late. But it can be difficult for your child when he or she arrives at school right before naptime because he or she has not had a chance to play or be with their friends. It is important for all children to have that routine and consistency.

We wish to remind you that we will be enforcing our policy of late arrivals. By arriving after 9:30 a.m. you will be charged $10.00 (You will not be charged with a Dr.’s note). For closing we require all parents to be here ten minutes prior to closing at 6:15 p.m. You will be charged a late fee of $10.00 dollars for the first 15 minutes after 6:15 p.m. and $1.00 a minute thereafter. When arriving at 6:15 p.m. and spending ten minutes inconveniences the teachers who have been working here since 7:15 a.m. and have to be home with their families.

2. The school lobby is an area for drop off and pick up. It is not a safe area for children to play and run around. We ask that especially in the evening pick up time; you promptly pick up your child and depart. Allowing children to run around the lobby is dangerous and creates chaos. And, please remember that our staff has been at school all day and are ready to go home to their families at the end of the day. If you wish to meet with other parents please do so after dropping off your children in the morning and prior to picking up your children in the evening.

Expecting Parents

We are happily witnessing a rise in sibling births! As you know space in infant/toddler is extremely rare in Santa Monica and vicinity. Most schools accept children ages 2 1/2 and up that are toilet trained.

Therefore, this is just a friendly reminder that if you are expecting and plan to have your infant/toddler at Les Enfants, please inform Cindy as soon as possible to receive an application and save your space.

Thank you for your cooperation and your continuous support!
